Following the March 17, 2017 game Man U gathered for the solemn occasion of the induction of another of their own into their "Ball of Fame", which recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to the team. After signing the Ball of Fame, current Spur Gerald "The Assassin" Gaudet officially became the 3rd member of the Man U Ball of Fame, joining:
#16 Dave "Turps" Turpin - The bad-ass defender who was forced into premature retirement with multiple knee injuries, and,
#15 Richard "Frogman" Swann - The striker who gave opposing defenders fits with his frenetic, "waterbug" style.
Gerald's GGSL resume includes a starring role on perhaps the most dominant GGSL squad ever, the now-defunct powerhouse Grateful Dead Legs, (although they ran into Man U a couple of times in Shield play). He is also one of only 11 individuals in the GGSL "Century Club" with 104 life-time goals (during the "stats-era"). Of note, he is the only non-striker to thus far achieve this milestone.
Gerald scored 24 of his career goals in a Man U uniform, including leading Man U with 11 goals in the Winter of 2013/14 (his personal career high). His other notable achievements were his numerous fiery half-time speeches (a number of which lead directly to Man U comeback wins), his elevated level of play during all the big matches and against the top teams, his team-leading yellow cards, and his pivotal role in the development and implementation of the Man U "X Formation" (aka "Why is everyone so $%#*@! open in our zone!").
Congratulations Gerald on behalf of all your past teammates for achieving this highest of honours as a member of the Manchester United Ball of Fame!
